The new issue of Sequential Tart throws some light on nascent publisher Ibooks' plans for 2004, which include:
"...a three-volume definitive collected series of Mr. X by Dean Motter, Paul Rivoche, The Hernandez Brothers and many more illustrators..."
But also include:
"...under license from and in conjunction with DC Comics, The Forensics of Batman, by Doug Moench."
It's zero-sum karma day here at Artblog, I guess.

Newsarama covers the release of Alex Robinson's BOP!, a companion piece to the mammoth BOX OFFICE POISON. Which is all fine and good, but let's see if clever Artblog readers can spot the moment the article goes completely off the fucking rails:
"While Box Office Poison charts several large character arcs, the recently released BOP! contains a few short stories that fill out various cast members. The shining heart of this 88-page volume is Jane's High School Reunion. Rather bizarrely echoing Waid and Wieringo's Flash #0, the story posits what you could do by reaching back through time to talk to your high school self."
Did you find it?
That's right: usage of the high-falutin' "posits."

The Pulse's Interview-o-Matic 9000 malfunctions horribly and kills Daniel Way in a tragic avalanche of blindly prepared questions and punch cards.

Artbomb co-founder Warren Ellis announces in this interview that he probably is planning to quit writing comics, change his name, and move to the middle of nowhere where he will write only menu entries for a local Denny's. Apparently, Denny's offer creator-owned deals and a substantive royalties & media rights package, as well as mass-market saturation, product visibility and support, and a redundant distribution backbone that sees sales-cycles extended past weekly and into perennial status.
This announcement from Ellis, alongside a rambling, tired interview with a rambling, tired Grant Morrison which seemed to exist only to remind comics readers that Morrison has those tall Hollywood screenwriter dollars and doesn't need comics anymore, marks the official kickstart of mainstream comics' major theme for 2004: Evacuation. As the majors fire up the wayback machine and kick it 1982-stylee, many top comics creators in the mainstream are, after years of trying to shit, preparing to get off the pot once and for all.
