"Police say a 21-year-old man dressed as Superman attacked some motorists in Ann Arbor early Sunday.
"A group of men stopped their car to talk to some friends outside an Ann Arbor home when the alleged attacker jumped out from behind some bushes and into the vehicle, Local 4 reported.
"'He was in costume, and it was a pretty terrible Superman costume at that,' said Mark Majewski, who witnessed the incident."

poor lieber:
if you're in san diego this weekend, please find steve lieber and give him a hard time. or simply call him...
"Cartoonist Steve Lieber is one of those who isn't listed. Steve will be attending the convention, but thanks to a office snafu, he isn't listed in any of the printed guides. Steve will have a number of new books with him: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Creating a Graphic Novel, which he co-wrote with Nat Gertler, On the Road to Perdition: Detour, which he inked over Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez, and Family Reunion, a short comic illustrated by Lieber and written by novelist Sean Stewart, who will also be appearing at the con.
"Most of the time, Steve will be seated with Eisner-nominee Jeff Parker and their friends from Mercury Studios, somewhere in the EE section of artist's alley. He might also be doing some signings with various publishers and retailers. Since all of this is being orchestrated at the last minute, Steve invites his readers to call him during the con on his temporary cell-phone at 503-358-5221 for up to the minute intel regarding where and when he'll be appearing."

fantagraphics: november
major graphic novel releases this november from fantagraphics include...

king by ho che anderson
"This groundbreaking body of comics journalism collects for the first time Anderson's entire biography of the renowned civil rights leader Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. Over a decade in the making, the saga has been praised for its vivid recreation of one of the most tumultuous periods in U.S. history and for its accuracy in depicting the personal and public lives of King, from his birth to his assassination. King probes the life story of one of America's greatest public figures with an unflinchingly critical eye, casting King as an ambitious, dichotomous figure deserving of his place in history but not above moral sacrifice to get there."

what're you lookin' at? by johnny ryan
"The book includes several stories featuring Johnny Ryan's signature creation, Loady McGee (and straight-man Synus O'Gynus), a misanthropic, acne-scarred hustler who finds himself in scams that would make Wimpy proud, and responds to almost everything with an endless stream of wisecracks, puns, and X-rated double entendres. Loady's ridiculous crackpot schemes serve as perfect comic set-ups, and Ryan's art is crammed with visual gags and existential asides that brings to mind the great Will Elder (MAD magazine)."
fanta also has the fifth volume of george herriman's krazy kat on deck as well as a limited signed edition of the the neil gaiman interview book, hanging out with the dream king.
in floppies, look for the the mystery of wolverine woo-bait featuring the long-of-print, classic work from indy comix great joe coleman, a sketchbook from cartoonist leah hayes called holy moly, the second issue of belly button comix from sophie crumb, and the twelth issue of love & rockets from los bros hernandez, which is always worth a look at:

in smut, they've got available via eros comix the best of bondage fairies vol 2 by kondom (that's his real name, y'know), and a boatload of floppies including marcel dejong's rear entry #8, rebecca's teens at play holiday special and christian zanier's trannie trish and honey #1, among other classics.
