PREVIEW: the passenger by bryant & jones

"Finch Jenkins is a writer and filmmaker whose fortune is made glamorizing death and murder. He finds himself haunted by a ghost who spooks him at every turn. Enter Memphis, a mysterious young woman who tells Finch that the ghost is the spirit of a murderer, sentenced to bring another killer to justice before he can go on to his final reward. The hitch is, the ghost, Gary Divine, needs a living anchor to act for him in the material world. And he wants Finch. Divine drags him from one horrific situation to another--from tourist trap resort towns, to fistfights with rednecks, ogling a clown moonlighting as a stripper, and dealing with a peepshow janitor who has something going with his mop-until Finch gets the job done. But there's a catch...there's always a catch."

new review: comanche moon by jack jackson

"If the American literary comic book field has a John the Baptist, a madman in the woods making wonders while the rest of the world toils away, that artist is Jack Jackson. Jackson makes lurid, sometimes nasty and always compelling history books about his native Texas. The key to his effectiveness as a historian is that Jackson cuts himself off from the burden of making sense of his stories in terms of a wider overall narrative, such as American manifest destiny or capitalist exploitation of native cultures. This gives him an uncommonly even hand that relies solely on the accumulation of facts as they are presented to him. Sooner or later, every single entity in a Jackson history becomes indicted for their role in some act of horror or cruelty..."
