Shirin is a pre-med student, a bit anal, and nervous about her medical entrance exams. Morgan is laid back, obsessed with French, and good at fixing cars. And they're both asking themselves what every couple eventually does: are we in this thing for the long haul? Oh, and then there's Lance - a writer who's quite literally losing his mind with an obsession over Morgan.
If you've ever been in a relationship, you know that the true test comes weeks, months, years after that initial state of infatuation. After you've shared a bathroom and seen each other in the clothes that come from the back of the closest. Heard the burps, the hiccups and everything else. ODDS OFF is about that post-crush period and is a welcome, refreshing look into a subject that's too often ignored in literature and film.
Creator Matt Madden's got a great eye for conveying thoughts and moods through purely visual means. How a nightstand can become an anchor that keeps your figurative raft from floating out to sea... His characters are also distinct with dialogue that is completely natural and unforced. ODDS OFF is a poignant, deceptively charming work, that'll surely bring an old memory or two to the surface and hopefully a nostalgic smile as well.
