High school. Makes me shudder just thinking about it. An exciting weekend for us was when we'd score a bottle of bourbon and drink it in the basement of someone's house in our little suburban hell in Jersey. These were usually borefests that ended in either vandalism or ping-pong. We played a lot of ping-pong.
You see, that's what you do in the suburbs. You kill time until you're old enough to get the hell out and create a life of your own before it drags you down and suffocates you like the poor sod working at the local Gas 'n Sip, twenty years past his time. And if you don't want to take it from me, take it from Scott Mills. He knows all about driving around like a bunch of schmucks, scoring concert tickets for bands that you hate, and killing off your brain cells in abandoned buildings. He's even written a book about it. It's called MY OWN LITTLE EMPIRE and it's the closest thing you'll find to reliving a few of those "cherished" high school moments out in the 'burbs, free of all the pomposity you've come to expect in a lot of today's comics autobio.
