JINX is a fucking blast from start to stop. This modernized riff on The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly careens through the underworld and over-world of, um, Ohio in a mad adrenaline rush equally familiar yet new; Bendis' characters and plot clicks into place intricately and deliberately. He takes his time telling his story, spanning various different styles and narrative threads knowing the whole while that the payoff is well worth the (apparent) detours.
Brian Michael Bendis is that rare type of neonoir-ist in love not only with the genre, but with patter. As lucid as Mamet and funny as Tarrantino without becoming another rehashed clone, Bendis' ear for dialogue and always-inventive layouts make JINX an absolute joy to prowl through.
Pick up JINX: Being bad hasn't felt this good in a long, long time.
