Somehow in a Great Depression on the verge of entering a World War, this sideshow circus we call the comic book industry was born. Will Eisner, a young artist without two pennies to his name, was determined, if not destined, to break-in and redefine the boundaries of the field. From these hectic, entrepreneurial beginnings, Eisner would produce The Spirit, perhaps the definitive comic serial of the nineteen-forties. Thirty years later, he would fire up the engine of innovation once again with A Contract With God, arguably the first "graphic novel" created in the field of comics.
THE DREAMER is a thinly veiled autobiography of those early days and provides a unique insight from the words and pen of one of the legends of the industry. Even to this day, Eisner remains at the forefront of graphic storytelling with over a dozen original graphic novels to his name - an inspiration to countless cartoonists the world over.
