On page six of Jay Stephens' ODDVILLE!, a baby is shot in the head.
It's okay, though - it's a flying baby.
ODDVILLE! is a very funny collection of weekly strips that ran under the same name in the hippest of hip independent newspapers a while back, now collected in all of its free-associative glory by the good folks at Oni Press, and the world's a lot gigglier for it. Following the aforementioned Flying Baby as she 'menaces' the good people of Oddville - including Melanie McCay (the alter-ego of superhero Jetcat); her pal Todd Johnson (at whom I laugh at on sight, as he is never seen without his baseball cap emblazoned with the simple invective 'RAP'); Giant Radio-Controlled Robot (what, you want me to draw a road-map?); Gargantua Monkey (who goes on a date with Todd's big sister Melissa); and many others too bizarre to explain.
No, really - shot right in the head. The bullet bounces off and everything; the baby smiles. Sorry - the flying baby smiles.
You will, too, unless you're some kinda jerk. What are you, a jerk?
