Under the pen name D'Israeli, Matt Brooker has been a comic artist and illustrator since 1988. First coming to public attention with the strip TIMULO in Deadline Magazine in 1989, he went on to draw Warren Ellis's first commercial project, the rancid cyberpunk LAZARUS CHURCHYARD.
Over the years he's survived as a jack of all trades, pencilling MISTER X for Vortex Comics, colouring everything from MIRACLEMAN to JUDGE DREDD and RUGRATS, and inking SANDMAN: THE KINDLY ONES and the provocative KILL YOUR BOYFRIEND for Vertigo.
He's also drawn two GRENDEL short stories (one with Matt Wagner for GRENDEL: BLACK WHITE & RED), and with the writer Ian Edginton has produced the fantastical graphic novel KINGDOM OF THE WICKED, plus the two issue story BREAD AND CIRCUSES for the Batman: No Man's Land story arc.
As a writer/artist he's produced two series for Deadline Magazine, (TIMULO, and, with Shane Oakley, FATAL CHARM), several FUTURE SHOCKS for 2000AD, and is still at work on his personal project, D'ADVENTURES OF 'I.S.R.A.E.L.I., which proceeds at a snail's pace between commercial jobs.
He's currently working on the online graphic novel SCARLET TRACES, written by Ian Edginton, for Coolbeans Productions. He devotes his spare time to dozing on the sofa, doing karate badly and petty acts of unkindness to small animals.
