Joe Kubert's parents emigrated to the United States from Poland in 1926, when Joe was less than a year old. At age eleven, he began working in the field of comic books as an apprentice for a comics production house. He was worked in the field ever since, and his fifty-year history in the medium includes producing memorable stories of such characters as Sgt. Rock, Hawkman, Tarzan, Enemy Ace, Batman, and The Flash. His most recent graphic novels are Tor and Abraham Stone.
The greatest of Joe's many accomplishments was the founding of the first -- and still, only -- accredited school devoted soley to graphic storytelling. Opened in 1976, The Joe Kubert School of Cartooning and Graphics has produced many of today's leading cartoonists.
Today, Joe and his wife Muriel live in Dover, New Jersey. They have five children and a whole bunch of wonderful grandchildren.
